This past Sunday, Jan. 12 at Kentucky Wesleyan, the No. 16-ranked Ashland University wrestling team got the job done to improve to 6-1 in the 2024-25 dual schedule and are ready for the upcoming 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championships.
The Eagles defeated both No. 13 Lake Erie Storm and the Panthers on Sunday. The Eagles also are looking for their fourth G-MAC title in five years in less than two weeks on Jan. 25 at Findlay University.
The final score against both teams concluded with Ashland 41, Lake Erie 3, and against Kentucky Wesleyan, they dominated them 55 to 0. The Eagles acquired seven wins by way of pins.
Senior wrestler Wyatt Bailey made a statement on this win and how being fresh contributed to the win.
“As a team, we did great this weekend, we came to Kentucky on a little break, we came fresh and ready, we were all hype and wrestled like eagles this weekend and felt great to get it done this weekend,” Bailey said.
Ashland will return home to Kates Gymnasium for Alumni Night on Friday Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. vs. No. 2-ranked Glenville State.
