The Ashland University men and women’s track & field team opened their 2024-25 season competing at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Open on Friday Dec. 6
The following Eagles who won events and earned provisional marks for the 2025 NCAA Division II indoor nationals, that will take place on March 13 to 15 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
On the men’s side, senior Caden Morris jumped 7.53 feet in the men’s long jump and ran 6.84 in the 60-meter dash.
Senior Jacob Pielech ran 48.42 seconds in the men’s 400-meter dash.
The men’s 4×400 relay team ran a time of 3:15.98 by the following Eagles: seniors Ethan Schuster, Colin Hunkle, Pielech, and sophomore Colton Thress.
Senior D.J. Duncan won the men’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.05 seconds.
On the women’s side sophomore Molly Winner threw 14.99 meters in the women’s shot put and in women’s weight throw, threw 18.95 meters.
Sophomore Haily Rios ran 7.59 seconds in the women’s 60-meter dash.
Sophomore Odessa Smith ran 8.75 seconds in the women’s 60-meter hurdles.
Junior Jade Avance ran 2:12.80 in the women’s 800-meter run.
Senior Sarah Masuoka pole vaulted 3.72 meters.
The women’s 4×400 meter relay team ran a time of 3:51.01 by the following: junior Montana Walker, sophomores Brianna Chenevey, and Avance.
Sophomore Leslie Pollock placed second in the women’s weight throw with a throw of 18.50 meters.
The following Eagles took first place: sophomore Kara Fields in the women’s pentathlon with 3,201 points; senior Mia Gardner in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 56.73 seconds; and freshman Carter Smith in the men’s pole vault with 4.58 meters.
The following Eagles took second place: graduate Hope Sievert in the women’s mile with a time of 5:18.43; sophomore Sidney Sheppert in the women’s triple jump, jumping 10.91 meters; sophomore Madilyn Elson in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.02; fifth-year Doniven Jackson in the men’s 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90 seconds; sophomore Justin Richards in the men’s long jump with a jump of 6.73 meters; the men’s 4×400 relay team consisting of sophomore Brian Turner and Alex Eggleston, junior Derrick Amapps, and senior Dylan Phelps with a time of 3:18.63; sophomore Josalynn Patterson in the women’s pentathlon with 2,759 points; and freshman Olivia Saylor in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 58.35 seconds.
Finally, the following Eagles managed third placings in their respective events: Sophomore Olivia Lazarus in the women’s pentathlon with 2,531 points; Sophomore Jordan Rosales in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.16; fifth-year Aniya Seward in the women’s long jump with a jump of 5.30 meters; fifth-year Chris Graber in the men’s triple jump with a jump of 13.31 meters; Thress in the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 48.97 seconds; the women’s 4×400-meter relay consisting of Rosales, senior Hannah Berheide, Saylor and Elson with a time of 3:58.98; redshirt freshman Jennifer Patrick in the women’s shot put with a throw of 13.21 meters; Rios in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 24.96 seconds; junior Levi Hondred in the men’s long jump with a jump of 6.71 meters; the men’s 4×400-meter relay of sophomores Jordan Grafton and Isaiah Potter, freshman Cameron Carr, and junior Joey Taylor with a time of 3:27.26; and sophomore Allie Dunlap in the women’s pole vault with a vault of 3.52-meters.
The Eagles will come back in January to build off the momentum of this meet by competing at Kent State in the Jud Logan Memorial Meet on Saturday Jan. 18.
