The Ashland University Wrestling Team went down to Greenwood, South Carolina for their wrestling match on Sunday Dec. 1. 

The team competed in four matches and in all four of their matches, they went undefeated. 

Out of the team’s four matches, three athletes went undefeated: 149-pound sophomore Hayden Kuhn, 174-pound redshirt junior Sevriano Garza, and 125-pound redshirt sophomore Luke Acuna.  

Not only did the team have three athletes go undefeated through the competition, but they also had three athletes accomplishing three wins and one loss.  

Those being 157-pound freshman Lance Overmyer, 165-pound redshirt junior Nate Barrett, and 184-pound redshirt sophomore Peyton Lemon. 

Overall team results from the weekend are as follows: Newberry College (35-12), Coker University (41-4), the host Lander University (25-14), and University of North Carolina at Pembroke (26-12).  

After coming out of South Carolina with a sweep, the Ashland University Wrestling Team will have a little break before their next match. This time they will travel to Indianapolis to compete at the 45th annual Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis. 

 It will take place from Saturday Dec. 14 through Sunday Dec. 15.
