Ashland University is home to 16 honor societies. One of these is the National English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta.
The society strives for its members to have high achievements in the English language and literature.
Sigma Tau Delta’s motto is, “Sincerity, Truth, Design.”
With over 770 chapters in the U.S. and around the world, Sigma Tau Delta also welcomes around 7,500 members annually.
AU’s Alpha Beta Phi Chapter works to create future leaders in the Department and Languages and Literatures, as well as growing literacy in the local community.
AU’s Sigma Tau Delta holds different events, such as their recent “Poetry and Prose Open Mic Night,” where many members shared their passionately written works.
Co-President Josh Carpenter, along with Co-President Elliot Blake, both shared their own pieces at the event that they played part in organizing.
To be eligible to apply to the society, students do not have to be an English major or minor. However, they must hold a sophomore standing or above, as well as keeping minimum 3.0 GPA in at least two English classes past English 102.
