On Nov. 11, the Criminal Justice Club hosted a Crime Scene Investigation event where students were able to learn about the different jobs in the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The event first had a lecture where students were able to learn more about what goes on in crime scenes. They had two speakers; the first one was a crime scene worker, and the second one was a forensic scientist.
During the event, there were different stations. The first was the forensic lab and the second was the CSI truck.
In the forensic lab, students got to do their fingerprints and look at the makeup of their prints.
Also, in the lab students saw a demonstration of how scientists could identify when saliva is present. For the experiment, they used a Q-Tip to swab a cheek then added Phadebas to it making it possible to detect saliva.
At the CSI truck, students got to take a look around the truck and got to hear what is kept in the truck. Students then also got to ask the CSI worker questions and learn more about what actually happens when they are called to a case.
Sophomore Autum Nolletti said, “My favorite part was the lecturing part because I was able to learn things I have to go through to get into my field.”
