The Ashland University women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams competed at the Cleveland State Magnus Cup on Thursday Nov. 21 through Saturday Nov. 23 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The team opened day one of the meet by tying for 11th place in the men’s 200-yard freestyle relay. The team consisted of juniors Andrew Oates, Cole Huebner, Nick Girz and senior Robin Falk with a time of 1:24.17.
The men finished day one in tenth place with 58 team points.
On day two, in the men’s 3-meter dive, junior Joey Lenczyk finished with a 12th place finish with 213.15 points.
Later that night, the men’s 800-yard freestyle consisting of sophomore Evan Kemp, Huebner, Girz, and Falk placed 12th as well with a time of 7:00.91.
Day two ended with the women in 12th place out of 13 teams and the men in tenth place out of ten teams.
On the final day of competition, the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay consisted of junior Andrew Oates, and again Huebner, Girz, and Falk. The relay team found eighth-place finish with a time of 3:05.11.
For the women’s side, freshman Yasmim Tomita found a ninth-place finish in the women’s 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.77.
The women finished the meet in 12th place out of 14 teams while the men finished 10th place out of ten teams.
The Eagles will next compete at the Wooster Invitational on Dec. 5 through Dec. 7.
