From a release published on Oct. 31, AU Provost, Dr. Amiel Jarstfer announced that adjunct faculty will now have increased pay as of spring 2025. This raise will affect the supplemental contracts for full undergraduate courses and will differ between the Masters rate and Doctorate rate.
The new Master’s rate for a three-credit undergraduate course will be $2,575, while the same course on the Doctorate level will come out to be $2,775. Pay has not yet been decided for courses under three credits.
“I think it’s a clear recognition that our adjunct educators make a real difference to our students and to our university,” said AU President, Jon Parrish Peede. He believes this change is an important one, “Within the limits of our budget, I wanted to make a strong statement, for the adjuncts, that we recognize that they play a vital role in our overall educational mission.”
This new change has been implemented after Jarstfer has been surveying other higher education institutions. After comparing the other universities’ pay to that at AU, Jarstfer has decided the next best step is to increase the pay for adjuncts.
Updates in the pay tables are available in AU’s Supplemental Contract Pay Schedule document and can be located on page eight and nine.
