The Ashland University volleyball team took on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Sherrill Hudson Court at Kate’s Gymnasium.
During the first set, the Panthers were ahead of the Eagles until the ninth serve where the Eagles managed to get ahead of the Panthers.
For the remainder of the set the Eagles remained ahead of the Panthers, allowing the Eagles to win the first set 16-25.
The Eagles entered the second set winning the first serve against the Panthers. They’d continue dominating over the Panthers throughout this second set, not allowing the Panthers to get ahead of them.
The Eagles ended this set winning 14-25 over the Panthers; thus, needing only one more set win to win the entirety of this game against the Panthers.
The final set was more of a battle than the previous two, with the Eagles and Panthers going back and forth with one another on wins per serve. The Panthers would put up a fight with the eagles; however, it wasn’t enough to allow them to win.
The Eagles won the final set 20-25, allowing them to have a clean 3-0 sweep over the Panthers.
Outside of their clean sweep, the Eagles GraceAnn Hartman finished the match with a high of 11 kills alongside a .385 hitting percentage, two service aces, two blocks, and four digs.
Kenzie McConnell also had a skillful match with three kills and four blocks. Georgi Moody also added four digs to aid in the Eagles victory over the Panthers.
The Eagles Abbey Queen also finished with 19 digs allowing her to have 546 on the season and moving to fifth place on the program’s single-season list.
The Eagles sit at 18-9 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
The Eagles regular season will conclude on Tuesday Nov. 12 against Ohio Dominican. This will also be the Eagles’ Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.
