The No. 3-ranked Ashland University women’s soccer team competed against the Northwood University Timberwolves on Saturday Nov. 6.
The Eagles McKinley Mendenhall scored on the Timberwolves during the 16th minute with an assist by Hope Evans, allowing the Eagles to have the first goal of the game.
Eight minutes later the Eagles would score on the Timberwolves once again, Eagles Mendenhall with an assist by Schneider – creating a 2-0 game.
The Eagles would continue pressing the Timberwolves because four minutes later Eagles Merrik Mihalek was awarded a penalty kick made successful, allowing for the Eagles to be up three to nothing.
The Timberwolves would score within the last minute of the first half, Timberwolves Ashtyn Lange with an assist by Reagan Brengman.
The first half would end with the Eagles winning 3-1.
The second half would be bare, with the Eagles Tori Haggit scoring unassisted creating a 4-1 game.
This would be the final time either team would successfully score; however, shots were taken on both sides.
Eagles Hope Evans would attempt to score during the 80th minute but would fail due to it being out at the top.
Timberwolves Carly Boyd would attempt a shot as well but wouldn’t find success as the shot was unsuccessful.
Previously to this final win, the Eagles were slotted at No. 2 in Midwest Region Rankings and No. 3 in national rankings. The team also won the regular-season G-MAC title.
The Eagles will host and compete in the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Final Four on Thursday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 16.
This would be the Eagles final regular season win of the season. They’d end the season going 15-1-2 overall and 12-0-2 in the league.
