The Ashland University men’s soccer team competed against the Northwood University Timberwolves on Wednesday Nov. 6.
The Eagles entered this competition by scoring a goal within the first ten minutes, courtesy of the Eagles Oliver Whaley created a 1-0 game to start.
This would be the only goal of the first half; however, other shots would be attempted on both sides.
During the 15th minute Eagles Pedro Faria attempted a shot on Timberwolves Nick Borkowski that would be unsuccessful.
Then during the 33rd minute Timberwolves Antoine Bellanger would attempt a shot on the Eagles but wouldn’t find success as it was out at the top right.
The teams entered the second half with the Eagles ahead of the Timberwolves – 1-0.
The Timberwolves Brendan Gerard would attempt a shot on the Eagles within the first minute of the second half but would fail due to it being saved by Eagles Ty Bowden.
The Eagles would respond to the Timberwolves shot during the 62nd minute when Eagles Whaley was awarded and succeeded a penalty kick goal allowing the game to be 2-0, Eagles winning.
The Eagles would then score, yet again, during the 78th minute by Eagles Rodri Jimenez with an assist by Yaya Dosso – 3-0.
This would be Eagles Jimenez second goal of the season and Dosso second assist of the season.
The Timberwolves would attempt to turn around this game when Timberwolves Lathan Baker would score unassisted, creating a 3-1 game.
This would be the one and only goal the Timberwolves scored.
This would be the Eagles final win of regular season play, concluding their regular season at 10-6-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the league.
The Eagles would begin their season slowly as they went 1-5 in their first six games; however, the Eagles managed to pick themselves back up towards the end of the season.
Previous to this competition, the Eagles managed to clinch a No. 3 seed in the Great Midwest Men’s Soccer Championships that will be hosted from Saturday Nov. 9 to Saturday Nov. 16. They find themselves earning this alongside Lake Erie College, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Thomas More.
The Eagles find themselves securing a spot in the Great Midwest Men’s Soccer Championship and will play in the quarterfinals against Thomas More on Saturday Nov. 9 with a 6:30 p.m. start.
