The Ashland University women’s soccer team competed against the Walsh University team on Saturday Oct. 12 in Canton, Ohio.
The Eagles entered this game being ranked number four in the nation and first in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) rankings.
Within the first 25 minutes, both teams would attempt shots, the Cavaliers would attempt their first shot during the 11th minute by Hannah Stein; however, Eagles Mackenzie Simon was able to save the ball.
The Eagles Hope Evans would then attempt their first shot during the 22nd minute but would be unsuccessful.
It wasn’t until the 31st minute that the scoreless game was broken by Eagles Evans as she successfully scored on the Cavaliers, creating a 1-0 game.
The Cavaliers would continue attempting shots but failed for the entirety of the first half, going into the second the Eagles were up 1-0.
The second half would consist of both teams attempting shots, the Cavaliers eager to get on the score board and the Eagles eager to score once again.
It wasn’t until the 65th minute that Eagle Merrik Mihalek scored on the Cavaliers, allowing the Eagles to be up 2 to nothing with the Cavaliers.
It wasn’t until the 83rd minute that the Cavaliers Katie Norris would score their one and only goal of the game, creating a score of 2-1.
The game concluded with the Eagles finding their fifth consecutive win.
The Eagles currently sit at 9-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in G-MAC play.
The Eagles will look to continue this winning streak when they hit the road to take on Tiffin University on Thursday Oct. 17.
