The Ashland University esports team participated in week two of Super Smash Bros tournaments on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Super Smash Bros is one of the esports games offered here at Ashland University, up to eight players in a match Smash Bros is a game of quick instincts and quick moves.
Super Smash Bros is a crossover fighting game published by the company Nintendo. The object of the game is to battle opponents in different arenas and to knock them out.
Head Coach Phillip Fiscus was impressed with his squad after a 2-0 start after week two.
“They are looking very good after week 2, after barely losing to a very strong Shawnee State team in week 1 they proved that they can overcome strong opponents in their week 2 showing against St. Clair,” Fiscus said.
Evan Norman stood out the most that week and he plays Falcon. He took a full 3 stocks from one player and took another on the next making it easy for the rest of the guys”
“Dominic Cole had a good start he used Donkey Kong and Hunter Schuck played well for us too. I did okay but obviously we did well as a team,” Norman said.
The team currently sits at 2-0 for the season, with more tournaments to come in Oct. every Saturday.
“The team has good chemistry, and it will show in the rest of the season along with their upcoming tournament in Cincinnati on the 5th of October,” Fiscus said.
Esports has their Smash Bros tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5.
