Over the last few weeks, the Ashland University’s Women’s Golf team completed two invites, earning a 2nd place finish in both.
Their first invite was at the ODU Champions of Women’s Golf Classic at Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday, Sept. 17 where they earned a second-place finish out of 15 teams.
The Eagles came behind the Tiffin Dragons by only two strokes – making it a close finish.
The team had a few players finish in the top five out of the entire invite.
Sophomore Riley McKenzie finished with a score of eight over par, earning her a fourth-place finish, a career low and tying for the fourth-lowest round in program history.
Following McKenzie, both senior Grace Grant and junior Klaira Paramore tied with a 5th-place finish, scoring nine over par.
After the ODU invite, the Eagles looked to compete well again in their own invitational; however, the Eagle Invitational would only be limited to one round of play due to rain.
The Eagles would finish again in second place out of 14 teams in the Eagle Invitational, losing to Glenville State University by only three strokes.
They would also have three golfers finish in the top five, also earning the top medal spot. Sophomore LeeAnn Harker earned that top spot by shooting a score of 75.
Grant tied for second place with 76 (one birdie), and senior Emma Conway tied for fifth with a score of 77 (two birdies).
The Eagles look to keep the ball rolling, with their next invite on Monday, Sept. 30th through Tuesday, Oct. 1st at the William Beall Fall Classic, being hosted by Findlay University.
