Fall sport season is upon us, and both Ashland University’s Golf men and women’s team had their first invitationals to start their respected season.
Both teams look to start the season off strong and keep that momentum going throughout the year.
The men’s team traveled to Canton, Ohio for the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational. Out of the 13 teams that attended, the Eagles finished in 6th place. They were edged out by both Pitt-Johnstown and Ohio Dominican by only a few strokes.
The highest placement by Ashland player was senior Matthew McMullen who tied for 4th place with Yadhu Urs, a fifth-year senior from Ohio Dominican. Both players finished with a final score of +4.
On the women’s side, they had two separate invitationals. One of them was the University of Charleston Invitational in West Virginia. The Eagles sent their “purple team” where they finished 7th out of 15 teams.
The highest placement from the UC Invitational was freshman McKenzie Kelso who tied for 15th.
The other invitational the women’s golf team was the Midwest Ladies Collegiate that was held in Peru, Ind. Out of the 16 teams that played, the Eagles finished in 4th place. Junior Klaira Paramore and Riley McKenzie had the highest placement among the team with tying at 16th place.
What is next for the men’s team is the University of Indy Invitational on Mon, Sept. 23 through 24. And for the women’s team is the Ohio Dominican University Champions of Women’s Golf Classic on Mon, Sept. 16 through the 17.
