The Ashland University men’s and women’s Cross-Country team opened their season at the Tiffelberg Invitational on Friday, Sept.6.
On the women’s side, Senior Lily Dowdell ran a time of 18:11.1, allowing her to finish 2nd place.
Alongside Dowdell, other Ashland scorers were Sophomore Lauren Bero placing 11th with a time of 19:09.1.
Behind Bero was Sophomore Amandine Binet placing 14th with a time of 19:45.7.
Sophomore Molly Coleman finished on the 19-minute mark alongside Bero and Binet with a time of 19:47.2.
Finally, Junior Brenna Heinzerling finished 22nd with a time of 20:01.0.
The women’s team placed 2nd overall alongside six other teams.
On the men’s side, Senior Colton Pinkerton was the pacesetter with a 5th place finish and time of 15:43.3.
Alongside Pinkerton, Junior Michael Snopik placed 6th with a time of 15:48.9.
On the 15-minute mark as well, fifth year Konnor Ray placed 9th with a time of 15:53.2.
Then, Sophomore Eli Peck finished 17th with a time of 16:23.8.
On the 16-minute mark as well, Sophomore Zach Vales finished 19th with a time of 16:28.0.
“Watching my team excel in individual as well as team performances has me very excited to see where the season takes us,” Dowdell said. “I think Friday was a great showcase of what this team is capable of and sets the stage for more high-class performances this season.”
The team will next compete at the annual All-Ohio Challenge on Sept. 20 at 6:00 p.m. in Cedarville, Ohio.
