As football season approaches, 88.9 WRDL and AUTV at Ashland University are gearing up to provide the campus and community with football coverage. 

AU football fans can get their coverage from 88.9 WRDL by tuning into The Early Bird’s Word. 

“WRDL’s award-winning sports coverage is a great example of the campus and community joining together over shared local interests,” Derek Wood, general manager of 88.9 WRDL, said “WRDL has regularly covered AU Football for over 50 years. Head Coach Doug Geiser is featured weekly on Ashland’s only live and local radio morning show, The Early Bird’s Word.” 

88.9 WRDL will bring guests such as Head Coach Doug Geiser to preview games, recap signings, or debrief on past games. 

The Ashland University Journalism and Digital Media Department also offers an AUTV segment called “The Doug Geiser Show,” where Eagle fans can watch Head Coach Geiser recap previous and upcoming games.   

AUTV serves as a mutually benefit program that allows for the public to have access to sports coverage, and students of Ashland University to get coverage on sporting events – such as football games. 

“The Journalism and Digital Media department has a long history of producing and broadcasting Ashland University home football games,” said Professor David McCoy.  “Future majors and minors are recruited with the promise to work these unique broadcasts, as JDM is the only collegiate media program in Ohio to have its games on the Rocket Sports and Entertainment Network.” 

It also offers full sports coverage, including football, on the daily sports breaks uploaded to AUTV’s YouTube channel. 

Eagle fans never have to miss out on AU football coverage because the Ashland University Journalism Department offers numerous ways in which fans can have access to their football news.
