The Ashland University Lacrosse team falls in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Semifinal Tournament to Findlay Oilers.
The team played against the Findlay Oilers on Thursday, May 2, at Donell Stadium. The team put up a fight against the Oilers and even scored the first three goals in the second half of the game; however, they still fell short 17-14 despite their efforts.
Sophomore Midfielder Lauren Hinders scored one of these goals and going into this game she felt confident in her team’s ability to win.
“Being a tournament game, the game was win or go home,” Hinders said. “Despite the pressure, I felt confident that we were capable of winning the game.”
Despite being on track to win, the result of this game sent the Eagles home putting their season at an end of 11-8.
“I feel like we got a bit too complacent and when we regained our focus we were almost out of time,” Sophomore Attacker Rachel Crumbacher said.
The team was having a notably good season after making history by winning their first conference tournament win on Saturday, April 27. Despite this loss, the team finds itself proud of its season and has a bright outlook for the future of Ashland Lacrosse.
“We as a team are very proud of our accomplishments even though we came up a bit short the future is bright for the program,” Crumbacher said.
Ashland University’s Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Lauren Simko shares the same sentiment and feels hopeful in the talent of her team for the upcoming season.
“I feel good going into 2024-2025,” Simko said. “I think we will have a very talented and deep squad next season. We are excited to get to work.”
