On Thursday, Feb. 1, teachers and educators around the county and state of Ohio gathered at Ashland University to discuss topics of educating the youth all around. The main speaker of this “roundtable discussion” was Lt. Gov. Jon Husted. This discussion was to talk about education in preparing students for the workforce of their choosing.
In other words, teachers were brought into workshops to find ways to connect to students. This was called, “Teacher Bootcamps.” These boot camps had educators go into businesses to learn firsthand what skills are needed for their respective communities. The importance of teaching youth about skills needed in the community was very well represented by Husted.
He stated, “whether college is for everybody or not, learning is everyone. Skill development is for everyone. Wisdom is for everyone.”
Lt. Gov. Husted also spoke out to his peers about teaching kids while they are young. He explained that teaching kids when they are still in their youth is important, because it gives them new opportunities to learn new things. To educate the children, education leaders need to teach the teachers as well.
Husted was also explaining that it would not be easy. For this to happen, they are going to need talent. They are going to need the talent from the educators for better technique in order to reach out to the students.
