Eagles win after overtime with Storm

The Ashland University men’s basketball team had a close call against the Lake Erie Storm Monday night, but was able to pull out a victory in overtime 87-79.
The win improved the Eagles’ record to 17-4 overall and 11-4 in the GLIAC.
The Eagles are one game behind Findlay for first place in the GLIAC South Division and two places behind Saginaw Valley State University in the conference
Juniors Boo Osborne and Adrian Cook lead the Eagles in overtime. In the five minutes it took for the Eagles to take the victory in overtime, they scored a combined 12 out of 15 points.
Osborne tied his career high points, scoring 27, and added eight rebounds and three steals. Cook got his career high of 25 points along with seven rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore Marsalis Hamilton added 15 points of his own along with nine rebounds and junior Wendell Davis had a double-double for the Eagles with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Despite going into overtime, the Eagles had a very strong start, beginning the first half with a 24-6 lead and stayed ahead at halftime, 44-28.
The start of the second half looked promising for the Eagles until the Storm scored a straight 13-points.
The Eagles were still leading, 64-57 with just over six minutes to go in the half before the Storm was able to tie it up at 72, forcing the game into overtime.
Once in overtime, AU began the lead 78-76 and then took a 9-0 run to get the win.
The team will continue their GLIAC play on the road against the Walsh on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
