At the Jan. 23 meeting, Fred Geib, the director of dining services came in to talk to the student senate about adding one additional meal plan for AU students.
“We need to do something different,” said Geib after mentioning a confusing past year with swipes and meal plans. He presented a plan with a 160 block of swipes, plus 500 dining dollars, so it’s an elimination of expectation that you can get a swipe for a meal at Eagle’s Nest.
“Clearly this is not an overhaul of the original plan but an additional thing,” said Zachary Schar, president of the student senate.
The plan will be open to all students and the price will stay the same as the eagle and purple plan with a difference in swipes and dining dollars.
Geib also mentioned bringing back the annual AU food show, which was a previous favorite of students. The show featured popular food companies to have students taste test food.
This year, on Feb. 22, AU dining services plans to take over the Upper Convocation Center for the show with a Carnival theme along with similar themed games. Students will need one swipe for admission.
Student senate meetings are hosted in the ABCD conference room in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
