Recap: Eagles defeat Storm 80-35

The Eagles were all business tonight and will keep the target on their back after their victorious matchup with the Storm.
After the 80-35 blowout versus Lake Erie, who holds a 7-14 overall record, the women’s basketball team improved their undefeated record to 21-0.
The Eagles are now only three wins away from matching the best start in the programs’ history, 24-0. The national championship team made this record three seasons ago in the 2012-2013 season.
AU’s blowout victory was due to four Eagles who all scored in double digits. Sophomore Andi Daughtery scored 18 points along with classmate Laina Snyder who contributed 12, while sophomore Julie Worley and junior Alex Henning both added ten of their own.
Daugherty also added six rebounds matching her six assists while Snyder also got six rebounds and three steals for the Eagles.
Following in their lead, Henning added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Eagles started the game with a great amount of momentum, leading 9-7 in the first quarter and scoring the next 13 points.
AU was leading 41-17 at halftime, accounting for the lowest amount of points the Eagles allowed in a half in the 2015-2016 season.
The Eagles have made defense a focus throughout the back end of the season and they were successful, holding the Storm at only two points in the fourth quarter.
The team has another quick turn around on the road as they look to face the Walsh Cavaliers on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
