In a symphony of laughter, rhythm, and camaraderie, the Ashland University community came together on Saturday, Nov. 19 for the annual Greek Life Lip Sync Competition that not only showcased the talents the Ashland Fraternity and Sorority life family but also raised significant funds for a charitable cause.
The event, held in Hugo Young Theater, proved to be a resounding success, leaving attendees cheering with joy and a sense of accomplishment.
Lip Sync wasn’t just about entertainment; it was a powerful demonstration of community spirit and generosity. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations went directly to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, an organization dedicated to support the treatment, research and needs of cancer research.
The event managed to reach the majority of its fundraising goal of $2000 reaching a total of $1800, highlighting the generosity of the attendees.
On top of being a chance to donate to a good cause but was a friendly competition between the FSL family. The event featured the likes of Delta Zeta with a rendition of Mamma Mia!
The brothers of Kappa Sigma transported the audience to a world of where “Boy meets girl then lose the girl then gets with the girl again”. Alpha Delta Pi retold the story of the Barbie movie. Phi Kappa Psi went back in time with a retelling of “Back to the future”. Alpha Phi went through a Era’s tour of their own. Phi Delta Theta went the nostalgic route with classic songs from Pokémon, Adventure time. Finally, Theta Phi Alpha closed the event with their performance of the early 2000’s.
The panel of Judges consisting of Troy Miller, a returning judge and the Director of Graduate International and Online Admissions, professor of fashion merchandising Allison Rossi, Mary Bond, the supervisor of the Ashland University mail room, and Liz Keller Director of Student Activities named Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Psi the winners of the annual Lip Sync Competition.
