On the Tuesday, Nov. 14 Student Senate meeting, the Senate discussed the topic of the student group funding initiative.
According to the Senate, their end goal with this initiative was to get more people involved and on Student Senate. They also wanted to create funding opportunities for organizations on campus.
However, for this year they have decided to not move forward with it as they are not comfortable with making it happen for the rest of 2023.
“It’s something I want to push forward, something that can happen next year,” said Senate President Zack Scher.
The Senate’s goal now for the funding initiative is to have donor funding, and from this to get more people on Senate and get more funding from that for the organizations on campus.
Scher’s own goal is that he wants to easily pass it on to the next Senate President because even though it won’t be happening this semester, he believes it is something that should happen in the future.
There is no Student Senate meeting next week due to Thanksgiving break but when the next meeting is held, they are bringing in IT to talk about continuous Outlook email issues and other IT concerns.
Student Senate meetings are hosted in the ABCD conference room in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
