Another provisional mark was set for the fourth straight meet as the Ashland University indoor track and field teams competed at the Akron Invitational.

Sophomore Hannah Bartlome set the new mark in the women’s pentathlon with a score of 3,286 points.

Bartlome joins a number of Eagle runners that improved their provisional cuts or got new ones.

The Eagle women were strong across the board with improved provisional marks by junior Megan Tomei and redshirt freshman MacKenzie Leigh in the weighted throw and sophomore Marie Hammer in the pentathlon.

For this meet, competitors were divided into separate divisions: blue and gold.

In the women’s Gold division, senior Lauren Ellsworth took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.87.

In the women’s Blue division, redshirt freshman Natalie Helenthal took second in the women’s weight throw with a distance of 17.45 meters.

In the men’s Blue division, senior Jared Whitcomb won both the weight throw and shot put while also improving his provisional mark in the weight throw. Fellow senior Clayton Jury also improved his provisional cut in the weight throw.

Freshman Alex Hill, who competed unattached, finished second right behind Whitcomb in the weight throw with a distance of 17.27 meters.

Also in the Blue division, sophomore Tyler Lance took third in the men’s 3,000 run with a time of 8:53.48.

In the men’s Gold division, junior Jordan Crayon won the weight throw to complete the sweep for the men by throwing a distance of 20.99 meters with fellow junior Bryn Campbell finishing right behind him in second place at 20.49 meters.

The Eagles will split once again with a few going to the Findlay Elite Meet and the rest of the team going to the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Feb. 12.
