The Ashland University Seminary Library is hosting an open house on Oct. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Seminary Library is home to a collection of literature meant to educate on theology, history, Scripture, and counseling. Anyone can utilize the library as a resource, but those who are not a part of AU student, staff, or faculty, must purchase a $15 courtesy card that is valid for one year.
Librarian Sarah Thomas says she hopes more of the Ashland community will learn about the library and enjoy all that it has to offer.
“A lot of people will come to us and say, ‘I didn’t even know there was a seminary here’ or, ‘I didn’t even know there was a library here’ so we want everyone to use our space and to know that we exist,” said librarian Daniel O’Brien.
Last summer the library went through a refresh of their living and learning space.
“It’s an area where people can come, gather together, and research together. It’s not the old version of a library where it has to be quiet, but it is hopefully more of a collaborative space where people want to get together,” said Thomas.
The upstairs portion of the library features multiple private study rooms as well as rows of desks. While most of the space is meant to be collaborative, there is a section of the library meant for quiet studying.
The upcoming open house will feature refreshments from Mr. Bill’s Wood Fired Pizza Kitchen and will give the Ashland community a chance to tour the library and speak with Thomas and O’Brien about available resources.
The Seminary Library is located at 910 Center Street and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
