The new library café has recently been announced and is named the Lyceum Library Cafe as verified by AU president, Dr. Carlos Campo.
“We chose the name Lyceum for the cafe because we felt it reflected our love of history,” said Campo. “It also points to the link between our library as a place of learning, which is what “Lyceums” were [and] are as well.”
Dr. Campo also cited that name goes back to the Lyceum in ancient Athens, where Greek philosopher Aristotle founded his school in 335 BC, and the Lyceum Movement in the United States during the 19th century.
“It has become known as any center of education,” said Campo.
The official opening date for the Lyceum Library Café is during AU’s homecoming.
