New senators were sworn in at the last Student Senate meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Senior Mckenna Cline and Sophomore Reid Opel were recently approved in their positions as Executive Officer of Student Affairs and Sophomore Vice President, respectively.
“I’m excited to work alongside my amazing friend and the President of the Sophomore Class, Kara Crum. I’m looking forward to working with her,” said Opel in his new position.
Among them, other senators were also approved of their new positions and joined the rest of the senators at their table. Each executive position has a committee below it.
The executive board let the rest of the senators know that there are still many positions open as well as the committees under the exec position. The deadline for a position is Friday, Sept. 29. and if it’s not filled out, the senators will be assigned to one.
In the meeting, Cline was assigned her first duty as her position as an executive officer of student affairs to take care of the resolution on Nest prices.
“I feel excited I was on the exec board last year as academic affairs, so this is completely different but I’m glad to be back. I think it’s just going to be getting closer to the students and being a bridge between faculty and students,” said Cline.
Student senate meetings are hosted in the ABCD conference room in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
