On Sept. 25, the Ashland University Eagles for the second week in a row took home two Great Midwest Athletic Conference player of the week awards.
This week’s winners both come from the Volleyball team, with McKenna Belcher and Katie Thompson leaving with the offensive and defensive awards.
Junior outside hitter, McKenna Belcher, in contests versus Findlay and Tiffin had 37 total kills, to add to her .245 hitting percentage. She currently leads the team in kills 185 overall and has 35 assists to boot.
Meanwhile, senior libero Katie Thompson tallied 51 total digs over the contests with the Oilers and Dragons and Oilers. As she continues to rack up digs, Thompson continues to close the gap to being the all-time leader in digs in Ashland program history.
She currently sits in 3rd place with 1,506 career digs.
The Eagles will look for both Belcher and Thompson to continue to lead them on their respective sides of the ball.
The volleyball team sits at a record of 9-4 overall, and will next take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers on Tuesday Sept. 26, with first serve at 6 p.m.
