Eagles fly at OSU and BW meets

The Ashland University Eagles track and field team may have split up this weekend but that did not stop the good times from rolling.
At the Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic in Columbus, the Eagles improved upon one automatic national performance and three provisional marks.
Senior Jamie Sindelar improved her automatic qualifying mark for nationals by finishing second in the shot put with a distance of 16.47 meters. Her teammate junior Megan Tomei finished not too far behind her with a mark of 14.45 meters.
Tomei also ended up winning the hammer throw with a distance of 55.96 meters.
For the men, junior Bryn Campbell improved his provisional mark in the men’s hammer throw by throwing a distance of 65.48 meters. Senior Eric Thompkins also improved his provisional mark in the 100-meters with a time of 10.59 seconds.
The men’s 4×100 relay took second in their event with a time of 41.42 seconds. The relay was made up of freshmen Devin Snowden and Myles Pringle and seniors Thompkins and Brandon Freeman.
At the Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, the Eagles kept the ball rolling with more wins and a new provisional mark set by redshirt freshman Stephen Pop in the men’s hammer throw.
Five women won their events: senior Jillian Bajaksouzian in the 1500 meters, junior Victoria Beverly in the 100 meter hurdles with her teammate freshman Tiffany Pryce finishing third, sophomore Marie Hammer in the 400 meter hurdles, junior Nuri Lee in the triple jump and the 4×400 relay of Pryce, Lee, Hammer and junior Tiarra Kick.
For the men, the 4×400 relay of freshman Brandon Wilson, sophomore Ryan Van Cauwenbergh, and juniors Columbus Millet and William Robinson took the victory in their event.
The Eagles will compete at home from April 29-30 at Ferguson Field for the seventh annual Ashland Alumni Open.
