After fighting through the consolation brackets in the GLIAC Tournament, the Eagles concluded their season with a loss to Wayne State 5-1 in the GLIAC Championship.

The loss came after a revengeful win over the Ferris State Bulldogs on Friday whom the team fell to earlier in the season.

The team’s first loss was to the Wayne State Warriors, which sent them into the consolation bracket.

It was in this bracket that the Eagles were able to come back to defeat Grand Valley State 3-1, Ferris State 9-0 and Findlay 4-1.

Those three victories allowed the team to make it to the GLIAC Tournament Championship where they eventually fell to Wayne State for the second time of the weekend 5-1, ended their 2016 season.

Despite the season coming to an end, four Eagles earned All-GLIAC recognition.

Senior first baseman, Jen Moore obtained first-team-all-conference for the second season in a row. Moore is a .368 hitter with 12 doubles, two types, five homeruns and 37 RBIs.

Senior pitcher Sarah Alley earned second team-All-GLIAC going 15-8 on the mound this season with a 2.62 earned run average and 104 strikeouts.

Junior center fielder Ally Farrah and freshman pitcher Hannah Stroe earned All-GLIAC honorable mention.

The Eagles will retire five seniors, but will return a number of starters for their 2017 season.
