The Ashland University Journalism and Digital Media Department (JDM) is once again making the long trek to follow the Eagles in the 2022-2023 NCAA Division II postseason.

Originially the Eagles headed to St. Joseph, Missouri, to compete in the Elite Eight and Final Four, but due to the this year being the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the national championship is being held in Dallas, Texas.

Heading into the national championship, the Eagles sit at an overall record of 36-0. After winning the Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship and the Midwest Region, the team now has their sites set on a national championship, which would be their third in program history.

The JDM deparment is sending three students and two faculty members to make the 16 hour journey to represent 88.9 WRDL, The Collegian and AUTV20.

The department will be sending Cade Cracas, Ethan Jenkins, and Brynn Meisse to tell the stories of the players who have worked hard to get to this point of the season. Cracas and Jenkins will be providing full game coverage on 88.9 WRDL on April 1, with a pregame show beginning 15 minutes before tipoff.

Those interested in following the team during game time can do so here: wrdlfm.com

All four individuals heading on the trip will be deep diving into the history, fans, culture and community of the Eagle women’s basketball team.

The Collegian, AUTV20 and 88.9 WRDL knows how important this squad is to the Ashland community and plans to cover every nook and cranny available.

They will provide a variety of content and social media posts as the largest local news-gathering team heading to the national championship. They will be providing the most comprehensive coverage of the Eagles’ journey on all platforms as they look to finish off their undefeated season.
