Soccer delivers another shutout

The Lady Eagles (3-0-1) extended their shutout streak to three on Sunday against  Clarion (1-3-1) with a 4-0 victory at Ferguson Field.

Junior forward Morgan Bittengle and sophomore Forward Deijah Swihart both scored two goals apiece.

Coach Danny Krispinsky was happy to see Bittengle and Swihart get back to their scoring ways from last season.

“I like how they got those opportunities,” Krispinsky said, “their movement off the ball, their speed of thought, and recognition was good today which allowed them to get those opportunities.”

The Eagles controlled the flow of the game through the midfield with constant pressure defensively which equated to only three shots on goal from Clarion.

Thursdays home game at 1 p.m. against University of Charleston (2-1-1) will be the third match against a returning NCAA tournament qualifier from last year.

“They are a quality team,” Krispinsky said. “They’re well coached, they’re a big physical and aggressive team, so we are going to have our work cut out for us.”

The Eagles will finish their non-conference schedule against Charleston before opening conference play against Lake Erie on Sept. 23.
