Bellville Street Fair strengthens ties to tradition
September 20, 2016
Just a half hours drive from Ashland University, the small town of Bellville, Ohio kicked off its historic Belleville Street Fair that ran from Sept. 14-18.
Every September, the country town nestled in the heart of the Clear Fork River valley has come together to showcase local agriculture dating back to the mid 1800’s thus making it one of the oldest street fairs in Ohio.
The annual event provides local farmers the opportunity to show off livestock and various other local agricultural achievements.
The Bellville Street Fair provided nightly entertainment that included the crowning of the Bellville Fair Queen, the Buckeye Country Cloggers, and various musical acts including a Johnny Cash cover band.
Local and former members of the community look forward to the annual event as many former high school classes use the event as a homecoming for former classmates to come together and see old friends and rekindle old ties.
The success of the street fair is aided by a strong community effort as volunteers from all over the valley as Clear Fork students, boosters, and various other organizations pitch in.
