The Call of Duty (COD) eSports team headed into its Week Six matchup against the Lawrence Technologic University Blue Devils and came out on top with a win.

Throughout the five-game series, the Eagles dropped just one match, the second one, and won the remaining matches for a 3-1 series score.

“Last night we were coming off of a solid win from the week prior,” said team member Connor Milne. “Our confidence was sky high and that showed. With incredible practices lately, our team’s confidence showed in one of our most comfortable matches this season.”

The Eagles started game one against the Blue Devils and dominated them 250-133 on Berlin Hardpoint.

The match saw the team play as one, rotate well and showcase how much work had been done in practice.

In match two, the Eagles performed well, but not good enough.

They went down early 3-1 in Tuscan search and destroy before rallying to bring the game back in their favor at 5-4. With just one round needed to secure the match, the Eagles were not able to get the job done losing two in a row to lose the match and even out the series at 1-1.

In the third match, the Eagles rallied well with a 3-0 sweep on Gavutu control.

With the series now at 2-1 in favor of the Eagles they looked poised to take the series and improve their record to 4-2.

Now with the fourth and final match underway on Bocage hardpoint, the team remembered what they had been practicing all week.

“We had been relentlessly working on our weaknesses all week, watching replays from prior weeks and having strategy sessions,” said Milne. “It’s been a team effort and that’s what propelled us past the Blue Devils in a dominant match four.”

The team was able to utilize their learned strategies pulling off a 250-112 blowout win. That would be the fifth time the team won a hardpoint match by over 100 points.

“I was incredibly proud of how hard the team has worked on trying to get better at every facet of the game,” said Milne.

The victory improved their record to 4-2 overall and put them on a two-game win streak with one game remaining on the season.

“I’m very confident we will continue to play well,” said team member Phillip Howman. “As the season has gone on I can tell we have improved and we will end the season with a win.”

The Eagles look to Wednesday, Nov. 2 when they take on the University of Michigan with match time set for 7 p.m.
