With the eSports season already well underway and various weeks of tough competition being played, the program has seen countless teams step up to the plate.

The Eagles have seen Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Overwatch 2 and Counter-Strike lead the way this season.

One of the newest editions to the program, the COD team, has continued its first season as a varsity team.

Since their first match, the COD team has been fighting to stay in the playoffs in a tough conference.

The team currently sits at a record of 3-2 overall and has played well with two new rookies on the roster this season.

“This we play another undefeated, very talented team,” said COD team member Connor Milne. “We are fighting to stay in the playoff race in a stacked conference and we look forward to what awaits for the rest of the season and are continuing to grind and improve.”.

The Eagles have two games left in the 2022 fall season, with the next one occurring Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fortunately, the playoff hopes blossomed for another team this past week as the Counter-Strike team has officially made the postseason at a final record of 1-5.

The team has experienced many roster changes, but one consistent has been veteran Hunter Shrum who has been extremely supportive of his teammates.

“This semester is just a minor bump in the road, we have had some changes in our roster bringing in new freshmen,” said Shrum. “We are just trying to build chemistry and then get back to winning next spring.”

They look to Friday, Oct. 21 where they hope to improve their record with three games remaining.

One of the first teams formed at Ashland University, Overwatch, has officially switched over to the new release by the company Blizzard, Overwatch 2.

With this new release, they look to improve from last season by practicing at least 2 days a week both Monday and Wednesday nights from 8-10 p.m.

Their season has begun with a record of 0-3 at the club level and 1-2 in the varsity league.

Fortnite on the other hand has seen some impressive success.

On September 24th the Fortnite team went to Akron University for their first LAN tournament of the year.

Brendan Hickey finished above all the other Eagles with an 8th place finish and River Wheeler was shortly behind finishing at 15th place.

With the win, both players earned 200 dollars in earnings for their placements.

As all the Eagle teams continue their eSports seasons, the program continues to grow and put itself on the map as a legitimate eSports program.
