The week of Oct. 10-14, AU Academic Advising is hosting their first ever Student Appreciation Week to kick off fall break and homecoming week.

Student Appreciation Week was created with students in mind, to make them feel valued and get to know the academic advisors more through opportunities, trivia, and prizes.

Kristen Herrick, first year student advisor for College of Business and Economics, said “We wanted to dedicate a week to our students to show them that we appreciate them, love having them on campus, and are here to help them work toward graduation.”

This week was generously funded by Bob and Jan Archer to better retention efforts. On Wednesday, Eagle Well and Academic Advising will be tabling within the Rec for Wellness Wednesday. Alongside advising, the campus bookstore, marketing, catering, and student life will be participating as well.

“Since this is the first year, we hope to grow it next year to include others on campus and make it a more robust celebratory week for students,” said Herrick.

The questions to be asked will be to identify their advisor and whether or not students know about greenlighting. The prizes are treats such as muffins, cookies, and other desserts. They will also have fun stickers and Hydro Flask mugs, tumblers, and water bottles to give away. The big prizes are the four $250 AU campus bookstore gift cards.

“We hope to see our students,” exclaimed Herrick.
