Banana Splittin’ is back for its second year since its reinstatement in 2015’s Homecoming festivities.

According to Bailey Wahrhaftig, a co-chairs on the CAB executive board, despite the few years that Banana Splittin’ was not held, it has become a homecoming tradition, this year celebrating its thirty-second year.

The event is comprised of three competitions, a most creative costume contest, a fastest eating contest and finally a most creative eating contest.

The event will be taking place Wednesday Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. on College Ave. in front of Dauch.

“We actually shut down the whole street for the event,” Wahrhaftig said.

Wahrhaftig elaborated that several teams get involved every year and typically represent other campus organizations and there are “three to four judges for the competitions.”

Hannah Clayborne, the mayor of Ashland, Glen Stewart, and President Campo are all signed up to judge the competitions. Fred Todd, a prominent member Safety Services, will emcee the event.

Todd explained that he is most looking forward to having a banana split during the event and to “having fun with the kids like [he] always [does].”
