Ashland University women’s tennis team had their last two home matches of the season this weekend.

The Eagles played the Findlay Oilers on Oct. 1, and fell 7-2. Junior Elizabeth Kidd was a part of both the wins. First in doubles, pairing with sophomore Natalie Keron and winning 8-2 in the third spot. That win was the first of the season for Kidd and Keron. Then Kidd went on to win in her singles 6-3 and 6-1.

The other two doubles fell 8-1 and 8-4.

The Eagles last match home, fell 9-0 on Oct. 2 against the Tiffin Dragons.

All three doubles lost, 8-1, 8-0 and 8-3, the closest match coming from Kidd and Keron, who won the doubles match the day before.

All singles lost as well, with the closest match being Kidd’s, who faced a Dragon senior.

“We have made improvements and we will make many more throughout the next few matches,” coach Lexi Bolesky said. “The game style does not show how well we have done in practices. We will continue with working hard and having confidence and taking that confidence on into the matches we have coming up.”

“We keep pushing and working hard,” Meghann Fitzpatrick said. “They are a great group of girls and Liz (Elisabeth Kidd) and I do our best to keep the team positive, plus we try to lead by example when we play.”

The rest of the Ashland Eagles matches are on the road. On Oct. 8, they will begin their long road trip at Saginaw Valley St. at 1p.m.
