Justice Kennedy address the luncheon

On Thursday, Sept. 15, The Ashbrook Center hosted the annual Constitution Day Luncheon with Ohio Supreme Court Justice, Sharon Kennedy.

Justice Kennedy spoke on the topic Restoring the Rule of Law: The Proper Place of the Courts in Our Republic.

Justice Kennedy brought up points about the justice system and how many citizens are not educated enough on issues occurring because of the media and the bias.

She believed that every person should read at least to judicial reviews a year to be well-educated on what is happening in the courts.

Justice Kennedy tied lots of her points on the standing of the justice system with examples from cases in Ohio such as districting.

After Justice Kennedy finished her speech, she took questions from the audience and one question, in particular that Kennedy answered was advice she would give someone who wanted to pursue a career in public service.

Justice Kennedy answered the question with her own personal story of mentorship.

During her response, Kennedy described her experience with her mentor and how her mentor was one of her biggest supporters and helped her to get to where she is today.
