The Ashland Softball team has faced many challenges this season in terms of games being canceled and getting the upper hand in their now 8 and 17 record on the year.

But today the team landed two wins in a double header against Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent, Lake Erie.

The 4-2 and 4-3 wins showed a spark in the Eagles hitting, pitching, and playmaking throughout both games against Lake Erie with game 2 being tied at 1-1 until the 10th inning until the Eagles were able to close the game out at 4-3 in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Game 1 was won off of a right center hit by Alexis Lavdis and Game 2 being won off of a two run triple in the 12th inning.

“When I have runners on, I try my hardest to hit them in. Because I know Josie is pitching her butt off out there.” Said Lavdis.

Lavdis, whos’ 2021 season was greatly affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic was all smiles when speaking on their victory to which Head Coach Emily Knerem credited to her just being happy to have her first full season of her college career.

“You could see early in the season just how much fun she was having because of what she missed last year. She’s been great defensively. Offensively, too, she is not a timid hitter.” Said Coach Knerem.

Notable performers of the double header included Catcher Jordan Severns, who was 2 of 3 for hitting on the day and scored 1 run in the third inning of game 1 and Lily Rockwell, Who has 3 at bats, 1 hit, and 2 run batted in.

The Eagles have 6 games left in the regular season with their next match up up being against Hillsdale on saturday April 23rd. The next four games of the season will be double headers against Hillsdale and Cedarville with all of them being played at home.
