A love-hate relationship
February 25, 2022
To be completely honest, I have a love-hate relationship with winter.
I am not the biggest fan of the cold. 45 degrees is about where I draw the line at the level of cold that I can handle. Any colder, and I’ll be grudgley forcing myself to walk in the wind, and chilly Ohio weather to class, work, or wherever else I need to be.
I am also not a fan of the early sunset. As someone who loves to be outside and spend as much time as I can in the daylight, the early darkness is not something I love. But, even with the downsides to winter, I suppose there are upsides to it too.
I, however, love the snow. I love sitting in my bed, with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book, and watching the snow fall. I also love going for a hike in it. I like looking around at the frost covered branches of the trees, and listening to the crunching of the ground underneath me. I also love going skiing with my family, because even though we aren’t the best at it, it’s the part where we are together as a family, creating memories, that makes the cold fingers and red noses worth it.
I also love the joy that comes with winter. I love watching my dogs as they run around in the snow, and try to chase after the rabbits and squirrels are always one step ahead of them. I must say, that it’s quite entertaining to watch two little dachshunds chasing each other, especially when they have to literally jump over the snow drifts in order to do so.
It’s almost the end of February, and as we begin to enter into March, it’s a time for change. Spring is right around the corner, and with spring comes warmth, flowers, and a fresh start.
We are almost there, Eagles, we are so close to spring. I can almost see the sun peaking through the clouds in the distance. Just remember, take it day by day, and the sun will soon shine on Ashland again.
