Meet the Clubs
Young Life
February 25, 2022
Young Life is a ministry aimed at reaching out to high school students. Ashland University’s chapter currently focuses on working with Ashland High School students. We aim to share the Gospel and the love of God with as many kids as we can reach. We recruit college students as volunteers to be leaders at our events.
On Monday nights, we have what is called Club, which is a night full of fun, music, and games, and at the end of the night, we share a section of scripture that shows who Jesus is and shows students that Jesus is the loving Son of God.
On Thursday mornings, we have Campaigners, which is a Bible study where we read a passage from the Bible and further discuss the character of Jesus. We dive deep into the scripture and ask the students questions meant to get them thinking about what they are reading, and how they can apply it to their daily lives. Outside of Club and Campaigners, we do what is called contact work. Basically, just being where kids are: high school sports games, hanging out with kids that we know and visiting the high school.
We aim to get to know as many kids as possible this way and form a relationship with the students just as Jesus took the time to build relationships with his disciples. We welcome kids of all walks of life to our events. It does not matter if they have been a lifelong Christian or have never heard of Jesus, all students are welcome. We work to share the Gospel and the character of Jesus in order to help students start a new relationship with Jesus, build their current relationship, or rededicate their life to Jesus.
One of the most important things we believe in (other than Jesus, of course) is loving the kids no matter what.
