AU to participate in White House Healthy Campus Challenge

As a part of Ashland University’s Campus Wellness program, AU has signed up for the White House Healthy Campus Challenge.

There are over 300 other higher education institutions from around the country that are involved in the effort of ensuring that campuses and their communities maintain healthy lifestyles.

Dr. Deborah Sullivan, Director of Campus Wellness, says the over all goal for this campus challenge is to be sure students have information on what health care coverage options they have available to them.

“Many students are covered by their parent’s policy, but if a student is independent, the cost of health care coverage may be a concern,” Sullivan said. “We are lucky to have a local certified navigator on campus to provide information and answer questions.”

As a part of this Challenge, a certified Health Insurance Marketplace Navigator will be available in person in the Eagle’s Nest on Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. to answer any student questions about healthcare coverage.

Following the session in November, other health insurance navigators will be present on AU’s campus on Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. in Myers Convocation Center and Jan. 26 from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. in the Eagle’s Nest.
