Learning more about Ashland’s administrative departments: Counseling Center and the Office of Student Life

The Counseling Center of Ashland University provides an assortment of resources that at first glance are not so obvious and should be highlighted- these services directly address educational, personal and professional development. As an example, it is common for students to schedule individual appointments that focus on academic enhancement; specifically, by introducing accelerated learning techniques, speed reading or total recall programs. In addition, The Counseling Center assists students who plan to attend graduate school by preparing for entrance examinations, such as, the MAT, GRE, LSAT and MCAT.

Personal development services typically concentrate on an individual student’s stated goals. The Counseling Center uses established models of Life or Career Coaching, just to keep a clear focus while utilizing a recognized feedback and self-evaluation loop. Likewise, professional development services often warrant and include a professional career battery screening; this assessment is similar to the actual testing a student would undergo when applying for a job and exploring their future career path and can offer further clarification of options as well as understanding of professional strengths. In brief, The Counseling Center is worth exploring.
