The Ashland University STUNT team battled hard this past weekend against two of the top NCAA Division I STUNT programs in the country. The Eagles took on the 1-4 Kentucky Wildcats and the 3-4 Michigan State Spartans on the road in Lexington, Kentucky.

While the Eagles looked to build off of the success from the previous weekend where they picked up their first win against a Division I opponent, they were unable to find much to capitalize on.

In their first contest against the Spartans, the Eagles went down quickly, 4-0 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, they were able to bounce back and secure a point while the Spartans secured four more.

Down 8-1 at halftime, the Eagles needed to come out confidently in the final two quarters. In the third, the Eagles looked solid and secured two points while the Spartans grabbed just three.

Now headed into the fourth quarter, the Eagles had the contest at 11-3. In the final quarter however, the Eagles were outscored 10-5, falling 21-8 to the Spartans.

After their loss to the Spartans, the team fell to 5-2 on the season.

The team was able to recognize some mistakes they made, and right after their contest with the Spartans, they headed up against the Wildcats.

In the first half, the Eagles secured themselves just one point again, going down 8-1.

While the first half showed some struggles through the first two quarters, the Eagles were able to rebound as they scored six points in the second half. At the end of the game, the final score favored the Wildcats as they downed the Eagles 21-7.

With both losses, the Eagles fall to 5-3 on the season.

The Eagles will return to Lexington, Ky. where they will take on California Baptist on Friday, March 10, before taking on Drury and Central Michigan on Saturday, March 11.
