The Eagles look to the post season in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The regular season has officially come to a close for both Eagle soccer teams after Tuesday’s matchups.

The Ashland University men’s soccer team lost its spot as the No. 1 seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after a 3-1 loss to the Lake Erie Storm. On the other side, the women’s team dominated the Storm with a 5-0 win to finish off the year strong.

For the men, the first half of action was relatively aggressive with 16 total shots being taken from both teams and nine corner kicks.

With a handful of offense it was only a matter of time until the first points of the game were scored.

Early in the second half, forward Teddy Baker assisted on a shot from forward Connor Mautino to secure his 12th goal of the season.

Just two minutes later in the 49th minute of the contest the Eagles saw Oliver Lovell score his second goal of the season to tie the game back up at 1 a piece.

The next two goals would be scored by the Storm who would walk away with a 3-1 victory.

The women’s team on the other hand saw a 5-0 win in a stellar game from the young talent on the roster.

The Eagles started off quickly and scored all four in the first half of play.

Freshman forward Dani Hicks found the back of the net off a huge strike that found the bottom right corner nutmegging the goalkeeper. That would be her eighth on the season.

The next two would be scored in the 17th and 26th minute.

Counterpart to Hicks, freshman midfielder Leiah Goedde, scored in the 17th minute after a pass from defender Maddy Grabowski and midfielder McKinley Mendenhall found her foot.

The 26th minute saw Clark find the back of the net off a backwards heel flick tricked the goalkeeper, scoring the goal.

After Mendenhall recorded an assist earlier, she found her first goal of the contest after Keira Erling thread the needle on a pass that found Mendenhall perfectly.

The final goal of the game would be scored in the 37th minute after junior Vanessa Menchofer was substituted in the game and found her first goal since 2020.

The second half saw very little as the Eagles waltzed off the field with a 5-0 win.

Both Eagle teams look to Nov. 3 where they start post season play against an opponent yet to be determined.
