The Ashland University volleyball team has decided to one-up teams Eagle teams in past years as they extend their win streak to 15 games in a row, allowing just four sets over the course of those games.

This is the first time in decades that the team has had a winning streak of 15 games after taking down Michigan Tech and Indianapolis in the Midwest Region Crossover tournament.

In game one, the Eagles took on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds and took them down with a 3-0 sweep.

The first set saw the Eagles play closely with the Greyhounds as they won 25-22.

In the second set, the score was even closer with the Eagles squeaking out a win by two points, 25-23.

Lastly, the third set was finished off strong 25-20 to secure the 3-0 sweep.

The Eagles were led by 5th-year Erin Krupar who recorded 14 kills, six blocks and one ace. Right behind Krupar was senior Anna Krikke who added on 10 kills and five blocks in the win.

Junior libero Katie Thompson continued her impressive play in the 2022 fall season with 17 total digs.

After a stunning 3-0 sweep against a highly talented Greyhound team, the Eagles prepared for their second contest of the day against the Michigan Tech Huskies.

With confidence and momentum coming from the Eagles’ first win of the day, they started off the first set strong against the Huskies winning 25-19. The Huskies only led one time in the first set and that came from the first point of the contest after a service error from Krupar.

The second set saw the Eagles come back out on top with a close 25-21 win.

Now with the Huskies back peddling and trying to regroup, the Eagles took advantage winning 25-14 in the third set.

Sophomore Makenna Belcher was the leader in kills with 14 to go alongside two aces. The Eagles also saw Thompson show up with another impressive 18-dig performance.

The Eagles improved to 18-5 overall on the season with a 15-game win streak.

With another contest coming Saturday, Oct. 15, the Eagles look to finish off the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament with another win. Their opponent is to be determined.
