After 24 years at Ashland University, Margaret Pomfret, vice president of institutional advancement leaves to take the Executive Vice President of University Resources position at Ohio Dominican University.

When asked about the change Pomfret had this to say, “I tell others to walk through to doors of opportunity often and if I didn’t take that same advice I’d be a hypocrite.”

“I feel that I am leaving Ashland on a high note but that doesn’t make it easier to leave,” she continued.

Pomfret also made it known that she is still looking forward to a future presidency at a small private college much like Ashland stating that the executive vice presidency would help her grow and expand her horizons professionally.

Pomfret wants to express how much Ashland University means to her and how much she has come to care for it along with all its faculty, staff and students.

“My love story with Ashland started when I was in late adolescence. Since then, I have known it to be an extraordinary place filled with dedicated individuals who love Ashland and shaped it into the institution it is today,” she said. “So many have poured themselves into me and have profoundly impacted my life. The faculty taught me to look in the mirror and discover my gifts, passions, and identity.”

Over the course of her 24 years at Ashland, Pomfret has accomplished many great things for the university and its students.

Pomfret has led several campaigns such as the Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences campaign which clocked in at over 15 million dollars as well the “Campaign for Every Individual” which has now exceeded the 50 million dollar goal by another 25 million with the possibility of even more growth.

Pomfret’s impact does not stop there, she is also credited as a prominent advocate for Eagles For Pride, working closely with the group from its inception.

“I want to say how grateful I am to everything she did for the club, getting to meet her and chat and learn from her was absolutely wonderful and I hope she has an excellent time in her new position and gets to inspire even more folks with her passion and support,” Rhiannon Reed, Executive Board Member of Eagles for Pride said.

Eagles for Pride President Hannah Myers also extends her wishes to Pomfret in her new position and thanks her for all she has done for the university as a whole.
